In the late 1960's, after a lifetime of perfecting his classic INDIAN MOTORCYCLE, Burt sets off from the bottom of the world, Invercargill, New Zealand, to clock his bike at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. With all odds against him, Burt puts his irrepressible kiwi spirit to the test, braving the new world on a shoestring budget. Burt's quest culminates in an unlikely conclusion and remains legendary within the motorcycle community to this day.
Special Features*: BONUS FILM: The original Documentary (1971): "Offerings to the God of Speed" featuring historical footage of the real Burt Munro (Also directed by Roger Donaldson); Southland: Burt's Hometown of Invercargill; The Making of "The World's Fastest Indian", Feature Commentary with Writer/Director Roger Donaldson; Deleted Scenes
The movie stays pretty close to real life and Hopkins does his usual good job of protraying a character.
Well worth watching...There's a lot of truth, inspiration, and good advice in this movie...And it's fun...

A wonderfully Entertaining & Funny movie based on the life of Burt Munro, A New Zealand motorcycle enthusiast & his efforts to get to & race on the Bonneville Salt flats with his Indian Motorcycle. One of the most enjoyable movies I have ever seen! Highly recommended viewing!
Amazing and true!!! - sdc1959 -
I have watched this movie 3 times in 2 months. My mother came over to see what I had been raving about (she is 87) and loved it. Being a mechanic myself, I could see the difficulties of what he went through. It is definitly a MUST see event. Beside the cast of the characters and Anthony Hopkins, I cannot say enough good about it.
